First off, thanks to those who responded.
The problem was really due to our network people
who installed a firewall recently which apparently
was misconfiugred (no comment).

Orignal message...
I have a few suns connected here as follows

-----[cisco switch]-----
| |
| |
sys2 [cisco 100baseT conc]
|
zeus

as of sometime today (with presumadley no changes),
rsh/telnet etc do not work from zeus to sys2!
16:37 root@zeus 10#telnet sys2
Trying 204.x.x.152...
Connected to sys2.
Escape character is '^]'.
SetSockOpt: Broken pipe
Connection closed by foreign host.

16:42 root@zeus 11#rsh sys2 ls /tmp
write: setting up stderr: Broken pipe

sys2 is IPX (also NIS master) running SunOS 4.1.3
zeus is Ultra 1 running Sol 2.5.1 with Sun 100baseT card

has anyone seen this type of strageness before? Its almost
like someone is resetting the connections right after
tey are set up.

TIA
Tim Iskander
