Strange Telnet Behaviour/Interaction

SunOS HOSTNAME 5.5.1 Generic_103640-05 sun4m sparc SUNW,SPARCstation-10
(it's really a ftSparc)

When telneting from this machine to another machine, when the target is
not another Solaris box (any release), I will not see a login prompt.
Instead I will be greeted with the password prompt immediately. And as
far as I can tell, it is "sending" my uid/username from the Sun side.

HOST:/home/tku% uname -a

I cannot see this as a problem on the target OS because 2.6 does not
display this behavior. Am I correct in this thinking? I've tested this
against SVR4 (4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4, m88k), *BSD (multiple hardware
platform, excluding BSDI), and Linux (i386, m68k, sparc). One other
target not affected was SVR3 (m68k).

I have not checked sunsolve or patches.

Thank you.
